I'm running a little late today, but nevertheless, the Friday [FRAME] is here. This frame is one of my absolute favorites from an engagement session that happened about a week ago with Chrissy and Joe. Chrissy and Joe told me they wanted to have an engagement session that was a mixture of urban and natural settings. In talking with them about their ideas, they had mentioned the possibility of a shot on top of a parking garage to get a unique view of the city. As you can see, we did quite a bit better than that. After we had pretty much wrapped up their session, I recalled an area on the outside of Des Moines that gave a unique, but unobstructed view of Des Moines. The plan was to head there just after the sun had gone down in hopes that we'd still have enough light to capture the two of them, but also the lights as they began turning on for the night. As you can see, it couldn't be more perfect.
As I led Chrissy and Joe up the hill, the excitement began to build and, when I saw what lay before us, my jaw dropped. I couldn't wait to see their reactions. I turned back to them and said "So...what do you think?" Both of them just gasped in amazement. The city view was breath-taking.
I love this shot. I look at it and am taken over by a feelings of peace and tranquility. Not only does it showcase the love between Chrissy and Joe as they look out over the city at night, but for me there's a beautiful stillness in it. It's ethereal. To me, this is home.
