From a young age, I was always fascinated with telling stories. I used to sit in my room for hours on end, writing and illustrating my own short stories. There was nothing I loved more — it was the ultimate expression of my untamable mind. At the time, nothing could compare, until one year for my birthday, my parents gave me a simple film camera. Immediately, I felt my creativity heightened as I began to document the world around me.
Despite this drive from a young age, it wasn’t until many years later that I combined my love for storytelling with taking photographs. I became fascinated with photographs and the stories behind them. After a brief period of creative portraiture, I finally settled on documenting weddings to be my ultimate journey.
Today, I still carry that sense of childhood curiosity with me at every wedding — seeking out not only the highlights of the day, but also the moments in-between. While you don’t typically hear about these moments, they can mean just as much, if not more than the main ones of the day. After all my years of shooting, I still believe that beauty lies in the simplest of moments and the perfect photograph can speak to someone more than words ever could.
