Adam + Luisa: Wedding // Des Moines, IA
On a wedding day, who you surround yourself with is everything. I also believe that you can really tell a lot about a couple by looking at their friends and family. In the case of Adam and Luisa's wedding, these statements couldn't be more true. Aside from their beautiful downtown Des Moines wedding, this day was perfection that was made possible by an outstanding group of people who knew how to have a great time. I can't say enough about my experience with these two – Adam and Luisa were so great to work with. Their amazing Des Moines wedding is easily one of my favorites because of the beautiful venues, emotions, and the fun crowd that ran with us all day.
The morning of the wedding flew by as we went through the usual hair and makeup process before heading to their house to get Luisa into that stunning dress. Unlike a lot of my couples, Adam and Luisa didn't want to do a first meet. They wanted to keep things traditional. So, the first time Adam laid eyes on her that day was in the middle of that beautiful church as she made her way down the aisle to a soundtrack of quiet gasps from their family and friends. After a deeply emotional wedding ceremony, the newly-married couple took off down the aisle only to be greeted by a sea of hugs and tears.
When it was all finished, we headed off to take photos in downtown Des Moines followed by a few drinks at a local bar. After leaving the bar and taking some rooftop portaits, we headed over to the West End Architectural Salvage for what turned out to be an epic reception. I had never shot at West End before, but I have to say that it was a great experience. The eclectic interior was beautiful and with such a casual atmosphere, I found a lot of guests really let their guard down which made for some great pictures. This amazing day was capped off by some energetic dancing and a live latin band that really brought the house down.
As I said before, weddings are all about people and, as I look back on their wedding day, I consider myself lucky to have worked with such a warm, loving group of people. Adam and Luisa are remarkable and as I share their story, I hope you'll join me in wishing them many years of happiness.
