Framed: Bird Bombardier
Good morning and welcome to Friday! It took long enough to get here, but it finally made it. If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know that it’s time for another installment of my Framed Series where I share a photo and story from one of my weddings or engagement shoots.
Today we’re looking at a couple photos that happened this past year at Sofie and Drew’s wedding in the Waukee area. This poor guy got absolutely bombed by a rogue bird who had decided that he had enough of our portrait session. At this point in time, we had finished the ceremony and were taking the bride and groom, wedding party, and their friends around on a large bus to take some photos and enjoy some drinks before the reception. We had just gotten the bride and groom portraits done when everyone expressed interest in getting a large group photo done to commemorate the special day. I knew of a suitable place nearby — a church with a large parking lot with some beautiful trees nearby. So, we pulled into the parking lot and disembarked the bus.
I moved everyone over into position under the trees and we started our shenanigans. We moved people around, made some noise, and tried a series of poses. All of a sudden, a commotion broke out and people started running. I was puzzled and ran over to see what the problem was. Apparently in the branches above, there was a bird who was tired of our rambunctious behavior and had a belly full of berries. He then proceeded to bomb the wedding party hitting a few guys, including this one who had gotten it the worst. It was shocking to say the least, but we had a good laugh afterwards. As luck would have it, he lived nearby so he could go home and change really quick and get back to the party. All in all, I’m thankful it wasn’t the bride because there would be absolutely no way to get that mess out of the wedding dress.
Cheers and Happy Friday!
