Framed: The Pyramid
Good morning! Friday is upon us and if you’re a regular reader, you know that means it’s time for another Framed photo where I share a moment from a past engagement or wedding and go a little more in-depth about the backstory. So without further ado, lets take a look at this week’s shot.
This series is a unique and hysterical moment from Maddie and Mitch’s wedding last year. As you can clearly tell from the shots, we were in the reception phase of the wedding day and I was working on making my rounds to grab candid shots of the guests and tables, when I stumbled upon this little performance….lets just say I had to stop and watch the fun.
The man in the photo is not only a family friend of the bride and groom, but also the father of one of my previous brides from a few years ago. Apparently he didn’t feel like dancing and needed another way to occupy his time so he made this rather impressive (and tall) display using the glassware from his table and, for the cherry on top, an upside down bottle of beer. I watched as he slowly constructed this breakable masterpiece level by level. Finally, when he got to the top, we all held our breaths as he carefully placed the last champagne flute and inserted the empty beer bottle. I snapped photos quickly, unsure how long this creation would remain standing, but it did surprisingly well.
As we gained a surprising amount of adoration from surrounding tables, it soon became time to take it down because the longer it stood, the greater the risk that it would fall. So, just as carefully as it was constructed, the pyramid was taken down without incident. This moment was a great little anecdote on a perfect wedding day and provided a little extra drama and humor for the reception.
I guess it just goes to show you that you never truly know what your guests will do…especially when they’ve had a few cocktails and want to enjoy themselves.
Cheers and Happy Friday!
