[FRAMED] The Thriller
Good morning folks! It’s the end of the week, which means it’s time for my Friday [FRAME]. Today’s feature is all about the power of timing — catching the perfect moment right as it happens. This [FRAME] is from Ellen and Josh’s beautiful wedding a few weeks ago and is simply called The Thriller. I had a blast working with Ellen and Josh. Their day was proving to be so beautiful and of course, a ton of fun. But, little did I know, the real fun was yet to come. In case you didn’t see it, I already featured a unique event during their reception where the whole wedding party performed Uptown Funk with the help of their live band [featured here]. Today’s shots take us a little farther into the night after the party had ramped up and the alcohol had taken effect. The stage was set.
The band was taking turns playing a few songs, then letting the house sound system take over while they rested. During one such break, Michael Jackson's famous song Thriller began blaring and the dance floor quickly filled. Everyone began shuffling around the dance floor and swinging their arms in the usual fashion.
Suddenly, the bride's cousin Ben took the dance floor, obviously moved by the music. The crowd that was once dancing quickly turned into on-lookers as a large circle formed with Ben at the center. He then proceeded to perform an epic impersonation of Michael Jackson's Thriller with some kicks, spins, fancy footwork, and then followed all of it with Michael's famous scream. His energy was electric and quickly radiated around the room. The shocked on-lookers began clapping and cheering as he left the dance floor, never to perform again.
The dancing is my favorite part of the reception, hands down. Everyone's so loose, full of laughs, and there's typically a killer soundtrack. During the dancing, I do my best to watch everyone and hone in on those great or hilarious moments, but even I was taken by surprise with this one. This surge of Jackson came out of nowhere and I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time to capture the magic. Call it fate or simply blind luck, but these photos are some of my favorites from the night. And, thanks to his fancy moves, Ben really was the true embodiment of a thriller.
Cheers and Happy Friday everyone!
